Sai Yamanaka (Yamanaka Sai) is the Anbu Chief of Konohagakure’s Yamanaka clan.

Being a Root member previously, Sai was conditioned to deprive himself of all emotions and as such, had difficulty connecting with others. However, when he was added to Team Kakashi as a replacement for the rogue Sasuke Uchiha, Sai was able to learn about people’s feelings which helped him develop his personality and identity by forming genuine bonds and relearning and discovering the emotions he was taught to suppress and hold back.
